Thomas Michael Shinnick

With deepest sorrow we announce the passing of Thomas Michael Shinnick (“Top”), age 50, most beloved son, brother, uncle, Godparent, cousin, nephew, and friend.  On Monday, November 4th, 2019 Thomas passed quietly in the hospital surrounded by his loving family after a long hard battle with heart complications. 

Top was born on November 19, 1968 to Richard and Loretta Shinnick of Inwood, NY.  He spent most of his life in Inwood, NY and Riverdale, NY where he made lifelong friends.  He worked in the Cement and Concrete Workers Union most of his life. 

Those who knew Thomas, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives.  Top was known for his kind and loving nature and his love of animals, particularly dogs.  He had a special bond with his mother and was her caretaker towards the end of his life. 

He is survived by his parents, his brother and wife Richard and Kathy Shinnick, and three sisters and spouses Regina and Tommy Zerrenner, Alicia and Bill Downey, and Julianne Shinnick.  He was a beloved uncle to 11 nieces and nephews and one great niece.
