On Friday, September 13, at 9:58 am, Roberto Roman passed away in his sleep. He was 87 years old. Roberto was born to Ernesto Roman and Gloria Guadalupe on July 15, 1937, in Gurabo, Puerto Rico and had several siblings. On January 9,1959, Roberto married Andrea Ortiz. Shortly after they came to live in New York, and they had four children. The marriage later ended in divorce. On September 4, 2002, Roberto married Dileñia Peña with whom he had a son. Roberto worked as a porter and elevator operator in the west end of Manhattan until he retired in the early 2000s. He was a reserved man who led a quiet life. He was funny at times and set in his ways. He was very neat and methodical in his manner and the things he did. Roberto loved watching baseball…his favorite team was the Atlanta Braves. He loved music, playing the lottery and all types of food in no particular order. During his retirement years Roberto spent as much time as he could with his children and grandchildren who he loved dearly. Roberto was survived by his wife Dileñia, children Marilyn, Marysol, Andreita, Roberto Jr. and Christopher, his grandchildren Danette, Brandon, Steven, Matthew, his great grandchildren Alyssa, Jaden, Tyler, Sofia, Samantha and great great grandson Greyson.
