Rijo Andrés Rodriguez 

For much of his 97 years of life,  Rijo Andrés Rodriguez worked hard to provide for his family. He was a man that took much pride in ensuring his family had everything they needed and sacrificed much for his loved ones. 

During his first marriage to Maria Dolores Rodriguez he had five daughters and two sons, which he loved immensely.  He also had seventeen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. To them he was known as Papa.

After his first wife's passing in 1986, he remarried in 1990 to Ana Rodriguez and added her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to his circle of loved ones.

Papa was a man of few words with an astute sense of humor. Anyone who has had the privilege to spend time with him has at least one story of his dry deadpan quick wit.  Being in his orbit was a guaranteed chuckle made all the more amusing by his stony expression, which hardly ever broke.  And when it did break, it only revealed a slight mischievous grin filled with self satisfaction in making his intended audience laugh.

His no nonsense disposition sometimes gave the impression that he was curmudgeonly, but those of us who took the time to scratch beneath the surface knew he was actually a softie with a golden heart.  On occasion, anecdotes of Papa's generosity and quiet love come to light, but there are many others that will remain unknown because Papa was not one to boast. That evidence is kept with the countless people who love him.

There are so many of us who will miss him.  His steady strength, sharp wit, and magnanimous heart will reverberate through all those he touched with his words and actions.

We love you Papa and you will live in our hearts always and forever.

Durante gran parte de sus 97 años de vida, Rijo Andrés Rodriguez trabajo duro para mantener a su familia.  Era un hombre que se enorgullecia de garantizar que su familia tuviera todo lo que necesitaba y se sacrificaba mucho por sus seres queridos.

 Durante su primer matrimonio con Maria Dolores Rodriguez tuvo cinco hijas y dos hijos, a los que amaba inmensamente.  También tuvo diecisiete nietos y doce bisnietos.  Para ellos lo conocian como Papa.

 Después del fallecimiento de su primera esposa en 1986, se volvio a casar en 1990 con Ana Rodriguez y agrego a sus hijos, nietos y bisnietos a su circulo de seres queridos.

 Papa era un hombre de pocas palabras y con un astuto sentido del humor.  Cualquiera que haya tenido el privilegio de pasar tiempo con él tiene al menos una historia de su ingenio seco e inexpresivo.  Estar en su orbita era una risa garantizada que se hacia aun mas divertida por su expresion pétrea, que casi nunca se rompia.  Y cuando se rompio, solo revelo una leve sonrisa traviesa llena de satisfaccion al hacer reir a su publico objetivo.

 Su caracter sensato a veces daba la impresion de que era cascarrabias, pero aquellos de nosotros que nos tomamos el tiempo de rascar debajo de la superficie sabiamos que en realidad era un blando con un corazon de oro.  En ocasiones salen a la luz anécdotas de la generosidad y el amor silencioso de Papa, pero hay muchas otras que permaneceran desconocidas porque Papa no era de los que se jactaban.  Esa evidencia se guarda con las innumerables personas que lo aman.

 Hay muchos de nosotros que lo extrañaremos.  Su fuerza constante, su agudo ingenio y su corazon magnanimo repercutiran en todos aquellos a quienes toco con sus palabras y acciones.

 Te amamos Papa y viviras en nuestros corazones para siempre.
