Richard Yee

New York, New York – With profound sorrow, the family of Richard Yee announced his passing
on December 9, 1998, at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Richard was taken from this world far
too soon following a brain aneurysm, passing peacefully while surrounded by the love of his
devoted mother and siblings.
Richard was the beloved son of Jimmy (Mou Lun Tow) Yee and Yuen Hing Yee. Born on March
6, 1969, he was raised in the Bronx and educated in its local schools, attending the Sheila
Mencher Van Cortlandt School (PS 95), the John Peter Tetard School (JHS 143), and John F.
Kennedy High School. He later graduated from New York University with a bachelor’s degree in
political science, an achievement that brought immense pride to his family.
From an early age, Richard embodied the traditional values of diligence, respect, and
responsibility. He felt a deep sense of duty to care for others, particularly the elderly, and began
his service as a volunteer before joining Kingsbridge Heights Manor-Nursing Home. At the time
of his passing, he served as an executive in the materials management department at the Jewish
Home and Hospital for the Aged in the Bronx. He was well respected for work qualities that
reflected both his character and upbringing.
Richard gave generously of his time as an active volunteer in the Community Watch Program.
Those who knew him remember a young man of warmth and humility, always willing to help,
who valued cooperation and unity. He believed strongly in the importance of family, community,
and mutual support, and he carried these principles into every aspect of his life.
Richard is survived by his proud mother, Yuen Hing Yee; his three sisters Darlene, Judy, and
Janice Yee; and his brother Raymond Yee. He was predeceased by his father, Jimmy Yee, who
passed away six years earlier. Richard was a loving son and brother who honored his parents and
brought distinction to his family through his compassion, achievements, and hard work. A
funeral service was held on December 14, 1998, at the Williams Funeral Home and interment
followed at the Woodlawn Cemetery, both located in the Bronx.
Richard Yee will be remembered with honor for his filial devotion, his generous heart, and the
meaningful legacy he leaves behind. Though his life was brief, his spirit, values, and love for
family will endure for generations.
