Noelia Miranda

January 27, 1965 ~ February 23, 2020 (age 55)

Obituary

On Sunday, February 23rd, 2020, Noelia Miranda, beloved wife of Richard Miranda, and devoted mother of two children, Kristina, and Christopher Miranda, passed away at the age of 55.

Noelia was born on January 27th, 1965 at Sydenham Hospital in New York, NY to Felix and Generosa Rodriguez.  Noelia spent almost her entire life cultivating warm and heartfelt relationships with people of all different walks of life however her passion centered around her need to help care for children. Noelia first pursued that passion in her work at Jacobi Hospital in which she would attend and give comfort to children diagnosed with HIV.  Noelia later worked for the Isabella daycare center where she would help teach and care for young children. What was always at the center of her career choices was her ability to devote all her energy to connect and support children. Therefore, it was no surprise that she chose a life of service to children when she became a school aid and afterward a crossing guard at The Paula Hedbavny School.  At the center of all of Noelia’s endeavors was her love of children. Noelia, every day of her working life, helped to ensure the safety of all children, supported their development and provided loving guidance throughout all the time that they spent together.

On   December 13th, 1987, Noelia married her best friend Richard Miranda and raised two children, Kristina and Christopher.  Noelia was a loving and devoted daughter often taking her mother on shopping trips and on outings to theatrical performances.  Noelia would drop any task that she was doing in order to help her mother in any way that she could; from something as small as going food shopping to helping her make hundreds of pasteles de masa during Christmas there was no favor, even unspoken ones, too small or too large when it came to her mother.  Noelia was so proud and dedicated to her children. Noelia fanned Christopher’s flames of interest in paleontology through many trips to the Natural History Museum and The Bronx Zoo. She demonstrated her devotion to Kristina’s love of dance by accompanying her to all her practices and performances. Noelia also shared her love of children with all those in her family by creating a warm and caring environment to which all her nieces, nephews, and cousins would gravitate towards as she would also show genuine interest and encourage the passions of all those around her.  Noelia loved horror films and Disney movies which in itself tells you the depth and complexity of her soul. Noelia’s love of soap operas was infectious and one that she shared with those closest to her. Noelia loved simple pleasures, a sweet-smelling perfume, soothing hand lotion and the taste of Mike and Ikes and those that were lucky enough to make her smile will miss her melodious laugh that would fill a room with warmth and joy. Noelia was an avid lover of music and musical theatre frequently referencing hit songs from the ‘70s and ‘80s like Killing me softly by Roberta Flack while sharing that love with her family with trips to Broadway to see shows such as Cats, Mary Poppins and Phantom of the Opera.  Noelia had a tremendous generosity of spirit that gave her the ability to instantly provide comfort and support to any who were suffering through times of turmoil. She will be missed by all those lucky enough to call her mother, aunt, sister, daughter, niece, cousin, and friend.

Noelia was preceded by the death of her father, Felix Rodriguez.  She is survived by her mother, Generosa, her husband Richard, her two children, Kristina and Christopher, her brother, Felix, sister, Maria, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
