It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Maribel Rivera, who departed this life on November 19th, 2025, at the age of seventy-eight.
Maribel was born on March 1st, 1947, in the vibrant city of Ponce, Puerto Rico, to the late Modesta Maldonado and Alejandro Colon. She was the cherished oldest of four sisters, Migdalia, Myrta, and Milagros, and grew up in a loving home, surrounded by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
On August 30th, 1969, Maribel married the love of her life, Felix Rivera. Together, they built a family, welcoming their beloved and only son, Feliz Rivera Junior, on March 10th, 1970.
Maribel dedicated her professional life to helping others, serving as the Director of Personnel at Jacobi Hospital in the Bronx. This role was a perfect fit for her, as she was known for her meticulous nature and her dedication to guiding individuals through the often-complex world of "forms"; and paperwork. She retired in 2002, but her commitment to service and her loved ones continued, as she devoted her time and energy to her family and friends.
A woman of profound faith, Maribel was a devout Catholic and actively served her church community as a Lector at Our Lady of Angels during Sunday mass.
Maribel was the beloved, larger-than-life Matriarch, and esteemed historian of our family. Her remarkable wit, keen logic, and unparalleled attention to detail were qualities that endeared her to all who knew her and made her an irreplaceable source of wisdom and guidance.
She is survived by her loving son, Feliz Rivera Junior, her dear sisters Myrta, and Milagros, and a host of extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory and the profound legacy she leaves behind. Maribel's presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit of dedication, love, and unmatched personality will live on in the hearts of all fortunate enough to have known her.
