Obituary
José (Joe) Isaias Colón, 71, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023
at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, New York.
Mr. Colón was born March 15, 1952, in Corozal, Puerto Rico to the late Luz
Belen (Rivera) Kelly. The family relocated to the Bronx shortly after Joe was
born where he was a resident for most of his life. Joe graduated from Morris
High School through the Upward Bound Program and attended Hamilton
College. He had a long career with the United States Postal Service, spanning
40 years.
Joe was a big fan of mystery novels, salsa music, Star Trek, and James Taylor.
More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking
delicious meals, golfing, and playing billiards.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Carmen N. Colón, two children,
Iris V. Groen and her husband Kevin and Isaiah V. Colón. He is also survived
by his sister, Maria Colón and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and treasured
friends.
