Jose Aybar, 89, passed away on September 6, 2024, in New York City. Born on October 8, 1934 in the Dominican Republic. Jose was a pillar of strength, love, and unwavering dedication to his family. He courageously migrated to the United States in the early 70’s, where he became a proud U.S. citizen. Through hard work and sacrifice, he provided a life of opportunity for his wife, Antonia (Ana) Aybar, and their four children, Jose, Mildred, Victor and Rosanna. He was blessed with a loving family, including 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, who will carry on his legacy.
He retired at 62 after working at Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY for over 30 years. His faith was central to his life. A devoted Catholic, Jose contributed to his church community as a group leader and through countless hours of volunteer work.
His joy for dancing and quick sense of humor brightened the lives of everyone around him. Though he has left us, his legacy of love, faith, and generosity will continue to live on through the many people he touched.
