John Donald Chiffriller, 78, of the Bronx, passed away on February 21,2021.
Donald was born to Frank & Hannah Chiffriller in Manhattan in 1942 and was truly a proud native New Yorker.
Donald married MaryAlice (O'Hare), the love of his life, on October 19,1963 and began building their family in the Bronx. MaryAlice predeceased him in 2010 after a long illness in which he seamlessly became her beloved and devoted caregiver.
They had four loving children George (Nadine), Stephen, predeceased 1969, Donna(Matthew Lynch) and Christine, and have 5 devoted grandchildren Aileen, Stephen, Ian, Brian & Molly, who loved spending time with their Pa, either watching sports, an old movie or having a dance party in his living room listening to tunes of the '50's.
Donald is predeceased by his brothers Joseph & Gerard & sister-in-law Mary Chiffriller, and is survived by his brother-in-laws & sister-in-laws and many nieces, nephews & cousins.
Donald was a longtime employee of Verizon for over 20 years before retiring where he then had a second career as security/concierge in both Manhattan and Riverdale, which he enjoyed tremendously. He enjoyed being around people and assisting in any way he could. He really was such a people person!
Donald had many joys in his life, and by far, spending time with his children and grandchildren was on the top of the list. He also loved (understatement) sports and was an avid fan of all sports but was a true blue Giants and Yankees fan. He could always be found watching a game, listening to a game or talking about the game, and if you were lucky, he might share his Cheetos or ice cream (if he really liked you!) while doing so.
Donald was also a huge political junkie who could break-down, explain and discuss, at length, what was happening in the world at any given moment. He was loving, smart, insanely funny and the most positive person, and he shared that light with all of us that were blessed to know and love him.
Donald was a wonderful and supportive Dad (Pops) and the Best Pa in the whole world. He will be remembered with love and laughter and, and will be missed eternally. Thanks for all the laughs Pops.
