John Burns, 86, a proud lifelong resident of New York City and the Bronx, sadly passed away at home on November 13, 2024.
Jack served in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge, he briefly joined the New York City Police Department. Jack graduated from Manhattan College, became a Certified Public Accountant and enjoyed a lengthy career in various roles working in the service of the City of New York.
Jack was a kind man with many interests, particularly St. John’s Parish, Kingsbridge, the New York Yankees and the Jaspers.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary, his sister Margaret and his brothers Thomas and Patrick.
Jack will be deeply missed by all who know him, especially his family which includes many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 20 at 10:00AM at St. John’s Catholic Church on Kingsbridge Ave. followed by internment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York. The family will receive friends an hour prior to Mass at Williams Funeral Home on 5628 Broadway @ West 232nd Street, Bronx, NY.
