Janice A. Vismale, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and godmother, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, at age 70. Born January 15, 1955, during a winter storm in Staten Island, she often shared her birthday with pride—Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.—a reflection of her faith, perseverance, and service to others.
A lifelong learner, Janice’s early struggles with asthma inspired a deep love of books and education. She attended West Virginia State College and Queens College, and later built a successful career in computer operations with the NYC Department of Education and Depository Trust and Clearance Corporation. In 2015, she fulfilled a dream by earning her Associate Degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institute.
Her life was rooted in faith and service. A devoted member of Transfiguration Lutheran and later Christ Church, she served as council member, property manager, and choir singer. Known as “Auntie,” Janice was a loving godmother, creative spirit, and loyal friend whose laughter and compassion touched many lives.
She is survived by her godchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Wave Hill, World Central Kitchen, No Kid Hungry, or Christ Church—celebrating a life lived with faith, love, and purpose.
