Hannah Philomena ("Phil") Kiely-Moynihan of Tarbert, Co.Kerry Ireland died on Friday, October 30th surrounded by her family at the age of 76 in New York, N.Y.
Phil's memory will be cherished and kept alive by her husband Mickey Moynihan of Shrone Co.Kerry; her children Michael, John, and Timothy; their spouses Aine McGrath, Shannon Maloney, and Melissa Brown; including her four grandchildren Finley, William, Peadar, and Keira. Phil is also survived by her siblings Dan, Pat, Pete, Mike, Dennis, Aggie McMahon, Kathy Skae, Margaret Purtill, and Imelda Twomey. Phil is predeceased by her parents Theresa ("Tess") and Dan Kiely of Tarbert, and her siblings Sister Eily Kiely, Mary Quirke, Gabrielle ("Gay") Kiely, Timothy Kiely, and her nephew Dan Kiely of New York.
Phil emigrated to New York on October 22nd, 1961 where she later met her husband Mickey and worked at the Moynihan family pub known as the Aqueduct North in Woodlawn, N.Y. Phil was a petite golfer with the heart of a giant, tremendous level of energy no matter what the hour, and warm personality which made her loved by all those who came to know her. She will be deeply missed.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. EST on Monday, November 2nd at the Parish of Annunciation in Crestwood, N.Y. Fr. Donie Cahill of Rathmore will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Kerry Parents and Friends Association (www.kpfa.ie) who are a pioneer in the development of community based services for adults with an intellectual disability. This is an organization which was dear to Phil.
