Genise Harley Obituary

Genise Patricia Harley born November 20th, 1963, was the daughter of the late Corina Queen Victoria Peters Smith raised in New York, NY. Genise departed June 12th, 2022, in the Bronx New York. Genise is survived by her three children: Melissa J Brooks, Michael Jarrett Harley, and Marcus Jarrell Harley. Genise leaves behind her four remaining siblings, Sandra Walker, Phyilis Copeland, Gregory and Jeffrey Zuniga. As well as her dearest cousin, Jacqueline Coward, with whom she spent much of her youth.
Her nieces and nephews Mark, Danny, Anthony, Renee, Sheryl, William, Jessica, Christopher, and Charisma are also left behind. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jaidev Brooks, Michael Harley Jr., and Emma Harley. She also leaves behind dear friends and a community that loved and cared for her dearly. Genise attended Walton High School and graduated in 1981. Thereafter, she pursued and completed her AA in Secretarial Science in 1985 at Borough of Manhattan Community College. At the start of her career in the 90's, Genise worked in lower Manhattan as an administrator at 100 Gold Street. Over the course of the early 2000’s, she worked for the Department of Health on Worth Street. Afterwards, she went on to work at Macy’s in the Parkchester area and continued her educational pursuits at Lehman College in Childhood Education. Genise is an outstanding childcare provider for Susan Wagner Daycare in the Edenwald Area. During her time as a licensed childcare provider, Genise was able to open her home as a daycare for the Parkside community. Through her service as a community member, Genise was able to nurture a generation while raising her three children - fostering lifelong friendships and relationships at many degrees for the children and community members of Parkside. As the years went by, Genise spent the rest of her career working under the Department of Education, working as a school aide for the different educational facilities, some of which her very own children attended, giving her the privilege to watch over her children during school hours. As a woman of God, Genise served at her best with what she was given. Her accomplishments as a community figure were not unseen, and her impact is far too great to forsake. Through her accomplishments and resilience by the grace of God, she leaves a legacy that surpasses her bloodline. May the legacy of Genise Patricia Harley continue to inspire us, spread grace, and insist that we commit ourselves to service as it is important in nurturing our environment. Genise has been there for many and will continue to be here; whether it is through her memory or the core strengths she displayed throughout her lifetime. May her graciousness remain immortal. We thank you, and we ask that you continue to watch over us as you were: Mommy, Grandma, Cousin, Sister, Auntie, Mrs. Genise Patricia Harley.
