Felix Rosa Obituary

Felix A Rosa Jr was born January 1, 1957 in Manhattan to Juana Hernandez and Felix Rosa. He is survived by his daughter Ciara and Bianca, his sisters Lillian Rosa and Wanda Rosa Forbes, his uncle Enrique Galarza and countless in laws, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Felix had a very kind, loving, and passionate soul. He was a real charmer. He loved to cook, barbecue, shop and do laundry. He loved his salsa music and was a real Bronx Puerto Rican who loved to visit Orchard Beach during the summer. Often, while in the elevator, he would randomly invite his neighbors to go with him. While I stood there looking straight ahead saying to myself Stop It fearing they may say okay let me get my bathing suit and towel.

Felix was a true charmer. He loved to shop at Stop and Shop and BJ. He was known by many of the store workers. During the early days of the pandemic, he would go Stop & Shop early in the morning and the workers will have his cold cuts ready for him, they will tell him what the best sales where he was treated like a VIP. In late May or early June, Felix and I went to BJ to purchase toilet-paper that we heard was in stock. As you may recall toilet paper became a hot commodity during the early days of COVID virus. We searched for the paper only to find out there were no more paper on the shelves. We continued shopping, headed for the check-out counter then a worker came up to Felix and said Hi. She knew him from Stop and Shop because she worked there also. He told her about not finding the toilet paper and she told him wait a minute. A minute late, she came back with a pack of 48 toilet paper that she said were held aside for special reasons. We thank her and I turned to look at the other customers on the line and you can saw the envy in their eyes. Yep, I said to myself he is a VIP customer. He has VIP powers.

Felix was a kind person. He is known to take the neighborhood kids to the pool and lake when he took his daughters. He also took them to amusement parks. He took his niece and nephews and many of my daughters friends to the pool, fed them and treated them like his own children. Many would go back to the apartment and not want to go to their home because he would buy pizza and Chinese food or barbecue for them. Food was very important to him. It was his way of showing love.

Felix also looked out for the elderly neighbors on our floor. They would often knock on the door with a jar that needed to be opened, a rodent issue that had to be taken care of and other issues. He also knocked on their door, if had not seen them for a while.

Felix tried to be the best father, brother, son, and husband that he could be. He loved our girls and me very much. He drove us around and was our body guards. He showed his loved to his family the only way he knew and with great passion.

I miss my husband, Felix A. Rosa and think of him everyday. There is no one like him, the Puerto Rican from the Bronx.
