Eulogio "Goyo" Mercado Candelaria, a beloved great-grandfather, grandfather, father, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on April 12, 2026. Born on June 3, 1935, in Añasco, Puerto Rico, Eulogio lived a life rooted in love, family, and tradition.
He was the devoted husband of the late Lydia Mercado and a proud and loving father to his four children: Eulogio Mercado Jr., Alina Rubert, Jose L. Mercado, and Daisy Perez. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Angelica Mercado, Milissa Mercado, Lisa Morales, Jasmine Rubert, Pito Rubert, Chris Rubert, Joey Perez, and Julian Perez who will carry forward his stories, values, and spirit.
Eulogio is also survived by his dear sisters Grace, Rosa, Evelyn, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who were touched by his warmth and kindness.
Known for his vibrant personality, Eulogio found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved sharing stories that brought laughter and wisdom, spending meaningful time with his family, playing dominoes with friends, watching Wheel of Fortune, and playing his güiro - filling his home with music and joy.
Eulogio will be remembered as a loving grandfather, a guiding presence, and a man whose heart was always with his family. His memory will live on through his family and friends.
Visitation will be held on April 22, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home, 5628 Broadway, Bronx, NY 10463.
Funeral Service will take place on April 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter & Paul Church, 824 Brook Avenue, Bronx, NY 10463. Interment will follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery.
Following the burial, we will have a gather at Eulogio Mercado Jr's home to share memories and celebrate his life. Light refreshments and snacks will be served.
