Eula Brown

Eula Marie Brown, 94, died peacefully during her rest at Montefiore Hospital, Tuesday, November  23rd, 2021.

Eula was born September 25, 1927, in New York, the first daughter of Elythouse Marcellus and Mary Elizabeth (Miller) Reed. Eula was educated in New York City and attended Julia Richmond High School. She became an entrepreneur at a young age, owning a bar/restaurant in Harlem, NY called Rendezvous by Eula, during the 60’s. She later became an Administrative Assistant, at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Eula was a member of Riverside Church in Manhattan. Her favorite hymn was, “In the Garden Alone”.

Eula celebrated over 25 years of marriage,with her sweetheart, Joseph Brown. Joseph, a decorated Tuskegee Airman during WWII, he cherished and adored his wife immensely. Upon retirement, the couple took much delight in being grandparents to their loving grandchildren, Kelli and Alexis. On many occasions, they visited and spent time with Eula’s sisters in Cape May, NJ. 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter Heidi Johnson, a sister, Mary Frances Robinson, a grandson, Tyler Smith and two brother-in-law's George Brooks and Anderson Robinson. Eula is survived by her daughter Dara, her husband Sean Brooks and, youngest sister, Lorraine Brooks. Along with a niece, and godchild Georgia Brooks, her husband Ronald Sutton and a second niece, Mary Frances Raucci a great neice, Chloe. Two grandchildren, Kelli Johnson, Alexis Smith, and her husband, Douglas Thoene. Along with Shantasia and husband Vashawn Black, two sons-in-laws, Andrew Smith, and Ronnie.

Eula has countless loved ones, work colleagues, community volunteers, doctors, nurses, medical caretakers, and many close friends that she admired greatly. If you were a part of Eula’s life, she thought well of you and would give you her heart. Her greatest joy in life was giving, sharing, and nurturing. When Eula had, she graciously shared with ALL.
