Eileen Patricia Powers

Eileen Patricia Powers, a beloved member of the Washington Heights community, passed away on January 19, 2023. She was born on February 23, 1943, in Washington Heights, NYC to Mary and Walter Powers. Eileen was the sixth child of eight, five brothers, Wally, John, Jimmy, Patrick and Billy. Eileen was predeceased by her brothers. Eileen is survived by her two sisters, Nora and Margaret.

Throughout her life, Eileen was dedicated to her family, friends, and community. She leaves behind 12 nieces and nephews, two whom were predeceased. Eileen was the great Aunt to so many and their families; The Morris families in Ireland, Multiple Powers Families, The Fernandez Family, The Hoyt family, The Carter Family, The Wozny family, The Longo family, and many friends in the neighborhood, and countless lives touched by her kindness.

Eileen grew up in Washington Heights and spent her entire life in the community, Eileen spent her career working at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital payroll department. She had a generous spirit and a loving heart that will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Eileen had a special love for animals, especially cats, and will be remembered for her dedication to their welfare. She spent many hours feeding and caring for the stray cats and animals in her neighborhood.

Eileen will be remembered for her selflessness, her warm smile and her unwavering love for her family, friends and animals.

Eileen's family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
