Clementina Matta Acevedo, 99, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026. Born in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, she journeyed to New York City in 1947. Together with her late brother, Juan Nibor Matta, she co-founded Encanto Records, and through her passion and devotion, she left a lasting love of music in her family, most notably reflected in her grandson, Luis Antonio Acevedo III, who continues to be involved in the music industry.
Clementina was the devoted wife of the late Luis Antonio Acevedo Sr., the loving mother of Luis Antonio Acevedo Jr. and Juan Acevedo, and stepmother to Derek Acevedo. She is also fondly remembered by her daughter-in-law, Minerva Acevedo, granddaughter-in-law, Genesis Acevedo, and grandson-in-law, Ryan D'Souza.
Her family brought her the greatest joy. She adored her grandchildren, Luis Antonio Acevedo III and Tiffany Natalie D'Souza; her step-grandchildren, Jennifer and Jacquie Acevedo; and took immense pride in her great-grandchildren, Emilo Luis D'Souza, Oscar D'Souza, and Luis Antonio Acevedo IV.
Clementina’s life spanned nearly a century, a time of history, change, and growth. Through it all, her love, warmth, and devotion to her family never wavered. She was a source of strength, guidance, and joy.
Her legacy is one of family, perseverance, music, and love. Clementina Matta Acevedo will be forever remembered, cherished, and celebrated by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
