Americo M Vazquez

Americo “Cucú” Vázquez lived a life rooted in family, faith, and quiet joy. Born on July 2, 1931, in Morovis, Puerto Rico, he carried his heritage with pride when he made his home in the Bronx, New York, over 65 years ago—a place where his story continued to grow through generations.

He was the beloved husband of the late Maria Elena Vázquez, with whom he built a strong and loving family. He leaves behind three children, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild—each a living testament to the life and love he nurtured.

Cucú had a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. He was a devoted baseball fan, loyal to the New York Mets, though with a knowing smile he might admit he’d bet on the Yankees if he had to. He enjoyed a good glass of wine and often reminded those around him, “Wine doesn’t have to cost a fortune to be great,” a reflection of how he saw life itself.

Above all, he was a humble and grateful man of God, whose kindness, warmth, and steady presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

His legacy lives on not only in the family he cherished, but in the values he embodied every day.
