John Joseph Sweeney

Sweeney, John Joseph, 76, of Yonkers, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at St. John’s Riverside Hospital. John was born in Manhattan, NY to James and Mary (McDermott) Sweeney. John was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Mary, with whom he shared 52 beautiful years of marriage.  He was a loving father and very proud grandfather to his daughter, Ann, son-in-law, Ted, and grandchildren Connor and Jennifer Gormley. He was retired from the United States Postal Service and enjoyed celebrating his Irish heritage as an active member and leader in the American Irish Association of Westchester. His family will receive relatives and friends at Williams Funeral Home, Inc. 5628 Broadway at W. 232nd St. Bronx, NY on Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, November 13, 2017, 10 a.m., at St. Eugene’s Church, Yonkers, NY. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
