George Reilly Obituary

George Francis Reilly died suddenly on Oct. 15, 2019.  He was born in Manhattan on July 1, 1950. George was the son of Mary nee Sullivan Reilly and the late George Sr.  He was a lifelong resident of the Bronx and a lifelong parishioner of Holy Spirit Church. Besides being survived by his mother, he is also survived by three sisters and their husbands,  Maureen and Jim Fahey, Kathleen and Dan Kelly and Eileen and Noel Forde. He was the beloved uncle to 10 nieces and nephews, including goddaughters Maryann Regan and Justine Spath, and godson Timothy Kelly, and 13 great nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by many cousins whom he talked about often.  Georgie, always an excellent student, graduated from Holy Spirit Grammar School, St. Nicholas of Tolentine High School and Manhattan College.
Georgie had served proudly with the United States Guard.  He was always known for his integrity. He was currently working for the New York State Housing Authority, where he worked for many years.  He was a lover of animals, and a friend to the homeless. He actively participated in social causes he felt were important to him. Georgie was an avid hiker who enjoyed exploring the hiking trails throughout  NYS. He was also the main caretaker for his mother during his life.
The funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Assumption Church in Westport, Ct. Lunch to follow.
