Fred Noriega, Jr. Obituary

Fred Noriega Jr., 74, originally from Inwood, NY, passed away peacefully in his home on November 19, 2019.

Fred was a veteran of news and public affairs programming, garnering every major award in broadcast journalism, including nine Emmys and the prestigious Du Pont Columbia University Award for excellence. Fred was recognized literally and figuratively most for his Emmy Award-winning news weekly television show, Channel 2: The People, which aired Saturdays at 6pm on WCBS-TV.

During his retirement, Fred loved to play tennis and spend time with his grandchildren. Fred is survived by his sons, Freddy III (Aundree), and Marc (Beatriz); grandchildren Derek, Robby, and Blake; sisters, Frances, Lucy, Helene; and brother Tyrone. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, wife Denise, and his parents, Fred Sr. and Natividad.

Viewing will be on Sunday, November 24, 2019 from 2-5 & 7-9 Williams Funeral Home, Inc.5628 Broadway Bronx, NY 10463. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 25 at 10am Good Shepherd Church 4967 Broadway, New York, NY 10034. Fred will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery 4199 Webster Ave, Bronx, NY 10470.
