Loving wife of Edward J. Sliva, Mother of the late Susan Sliva-Paige, Annemarie Sliva Moore, Paul Sliva, and the late Maribeth Sliva. Daughter of the late Albert and Mary Gangi. Cherished sister of Susan Franz. Beloved grandmother of Kristina Moore, Thomas Moore, Jr. and Eloy Rosario. Cousin of Maryanne Borowski, the late Jack Giattini, Debbie, Phyllis and John Desibia, and Grace Gangi. In addition, she is survived by her nieces and nephews, Peter Franz, Christine Fosmire, John Franz, and all of their children as well.
Carolyn was educated at St. Elizabeth Seton School, Visitation School, Sacred Heart of Mary High School, and Hunter College. She and Ed were long time, active parishioners at Visitation Church, where they were married and had recently celebrated 59 years of marriage. At Visitation, she dedicated her talents as a Drama Club producer and Mother’s Club member. She was the well-loved Visitation School Librarian for many years. She brought her love for theater and acting to the local community as a founder of Riverdale Showcase, and she appeared in many productions both there and in Off-Broadway productions. Three decades ago, Carolyn discovered her penchant for dart playing. She has played on many area teams, such as The Avenue, An Bodhran, and JC Macs, and she remained a champion player and Captain of JC Macs dart team. She received many awards and recognitions from the N.Y. Dart League, the Bronx Shamrock Ladies Dart League, and the Bronx-Westchester Dart League.
Along with spending time with her family and friends, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, listening to the musicals, traveling with Ed, shopping, and rooting for her favorite team – the NY Mets!
